The State leadership of the Akhila Karnataka State Community Health NHM Contractual Employees Union (Regd.) met the officials of the Karnataka Contract Labour Advisory Board to discuss the proposal relating to the regularisation of Community Health Officers (CHOs) working under the NHM.
During the meeting, the officials informed the Union that the opinion sought from the Department of Health and Family Welfare has already been received. The Union requested the Advisory Board to initiate the next stage of the process without any further delay.
The officials further informed the Union that the proposal has been forwarded to the Government for the official constitution of the Karnataka Contract Labour Advisory Board. Once the Board is formally constituted, the matter will be taken up for further proceedings in accordance with the provisions of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970.
The State Union urged the Government to expedite the constitution of the Advisory Board and ensure that the process is completed at the earliest, considering the long-pending demand of thousands of Community Health Officers who have been serving continuously under the National Health Mission.
The Union reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing all legal and administrative measures until justice is secured for the Community Health Officers of Karnataka.
