Today, the Community Health Officer of Chikkajambur Ayushman Arogya Health & Wellness Centre, Shikaripura Taluk, Shivamogga District, visited the homes of bedridden patients and provided essential palliative care services.

Palliative care is a specialised medical approach aimed at improving the quality of life of patients living with serious or long-term illnesses and supporting their families. It focuses on reducing pain and discomfort, managing symptoms, and offering emotional and spiritual support. This care may be provided along with curative treatment or even when curative treatment is not possible, and can begin at any stage of illness. The primary objective is to address the patient’s physical, psychological and spiritual needs with compassion.

Key components of palliative care include:

🔹 Symptom relief: Reducing pain, discomfort and disease-related distress.
🔹 Improving quality of life: Strengthening physical, emotional and social well-being of both patients and families.
🔹 Holistic support: Addressing not only physical health needs but also mental and spiritual needs.
🔹 Personalised care planning: Developing an individualised care plan based on patient needs and values, in coordination with doctors and family members.
🔹 Care at any stage: Initiation of palliative care at any stage of illness without giving up hope for recovery.
🔹 Available to many: Beneficial not only for conditions like cancer but for anyone with serious or long-term illness.

The Community Health Officer remains committed to ensuring comfort, dignity, and compassionate support for bedridden patients through home-based palliative care services.

We request the continued cooperation of the community in helping extend these essential healthcare services to those in need.
