State-Level Protest if Eligibility of B.Sc Nursing Candidates for PHCO Post is Not Withdrawn: Mamit Gaikwad

Date: 29.04.2026
Place: Bengaluru

Bengaluru; Regarding the Community Health Officer (CHO) posts, the Community Health Officers’ Union strongly urges the government to immediately withdraw the eligibility granted to B.Sc Nursing candidates for the PHCO post.

In this regard, a written objection has already been submitted to the department. Furthermore, the issue has been raised with the Honorable Health Minister in three to four meetings, where the seriousness of the matter was clearly explained. The matter was also comprehensively discussed and clarified during the meeting held under the chairmanship of the Honorable Health Minister.

However, it appears that some departmental officials are providing misleading information to the Honorable Minister, which the union considers to be a very serious concern.

The Government of India and the Indian Nursing Council (INC) have clearly specified through guidelines which qualifications are required for which posts. However, the Karnataka Health Department is allegedly violating these established norms, which is highly condemnable.

In this background, the Community Health Officers’ Union has warned that if the eligibility of B.Sc Nursing candidates for the PHCO post is not immediately withdrawn, a state-level protest will be organized across Karnataka.

  1. Then change the criteria for Every cadre at all the sectors Then give chance to diploma candidate to write IAS and KAS exams sir

  2. I think officials they don’t known the difference between UG and PG need to ask medical officer post to MSc nursing people

  3. It’s a good move by a government. Where nursing has improved till doctorate now.. rural health sector needs quality nurses and B.Sc nurses getting permanent job opportunity in place of ANM’s.
If they are replacing B.sc Nurses in place of ANM’s I support it.. and
All young B.sc nurses should support this because there is opportunity to be a permanent job.

  4. B.Sc Nursing is 4 Year Degree Cource and They already under went a training for CHO Bridge Cource and Working from 9 Years But The Government of Karnataka took a intiative to PHCO eligibility of Bsc nursing, ANM nurses or equivalent to diploma or PUC, if the government continue as it is there will be no Value For Degree

  5. Mallikarjuna shellagi

    This government don’t know
    What is diplome after 10th
